With young beginners, I typically use the Faber series. With intermediate students I focus on appropriate literature with strong emphasis on exercises to improve technique. With advanced students we work on standard literature, music theory, and aural skills, so that by the end of high school the students are prepared to study music at the collegiate level if they so choose. Elizabeth Brightbill Flute, piccolo Elizabeth holds the D.M. degree from Indiana University and has over 15 years of experience teaching all ages and levels. I studied piano with Dot Stevenson while at middle school(Sutherland) and high school(Albemarle). I teach at my home, located in the Hollymead Towncenter, and at Grace Episcopal Church in Stanardsville, VA. Maxx Katz 434-882-4239 Theory Maxx has over 15 years experience teaching flute lessons. After receiving a Master's degree in Music from UVA, where she taught ear training and music theory classes, she started playing electric guitar and has toured nationally and in Europe playing guitar and keyboard in rock bands. She presently plays both classical and jazz flute professionally in the area. Maxx is happy to accommodate interest in a variety of flute-related areas including classical playing, jazz techniques, improvisation, theory and ear training. Nicole Yang Theory and composition Nicole is an active member of the Charlottesville Music Teacher Association (CMTA) and National Guild of Piano Teachers. She was the chairperson for the Pasadena Branch (Region 4) of the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC) for 5 years. She was also the chairperson for Composer Today, a division of MTAC, for 3 years before moving to Charlottesville in June 2005. Nicole has earned a Masters of Music and Arts degree from California State University Northridge (CSUN) and has been teaching piano since 1993. Michael Anderson Jazz piano Ages/levels accepted: 6-106 I enjoy teaching students of all ages, and do my best to create a positive learning environment for all of my students. With young beginners, I typically use the Faber series. With intermediate students I focus on appropriate literature with strong emphasis on exercises to improve technique. With advanced students we work on standard literature, music theory, and aural skills, so that by the end of high school the students are prepared to study music at the collegiate level if they so choose. The mission of this studio is to provide the students with a musical experience that will encourage a lifetime of musical enjoyment.
