Member of Nat'l Ass'n of Teachers of Singing. Over 30 years experience, teaching both privately and as a college faculty member. I have a Masters Degree in Voice Performance, and extensive performing experience, mostly in the Wash. DC and Chicago areas. My students have sung leads in musicals, performed on recitals, won awards, and earned Bachelor's and Masters Degrees in the music field. I believe in healthy singing without forcing the voice, and in the exploration of a variety of song repertoire.
Geographical area: Northeast Charlottesville (off of Rio Road).

: I have been teaching for 30+ years, and I love encouraging the individual gift in each student. I most frequently use Frances Clark Music Tree or Faber Piano Adventures for beginning students. I place emphasis on theory, technique, sight reading, and ear training, as well as appropriate repertoire. Recitals, four group lessons per year, and various other performance opportunities enrich the private lessons offered.
